General Rules
The competition is being run and promoted by the charity Living Streets (Registered Charity No. 1108448), as part of Step Up.
Only one entry per person (across all entry methods) is permitted and the competition is open to UK residents aged 11 to 16, except employees of Living Streets, their families and anyone connected to this competition.
An eligible entrant will enter by filling in a promotional card which is returned to Living Streets, sending a text message to 80800 or fill in the form on the Step Up website.
Entries which do not contain all the information requested will be excluded from the draw.
Living Streets will not take responsibility for entries that are not received.
By entering, all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all these General Rules.
Living Streets reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these General Rules.
Living Streets reserves the right to amend these General Rules. Any amendments will be published on the Website.
The competition question
In order to enter the competition the entrant must take a walk of at least 15 minutes as part of their school journey. They should give the date of this walk as part of their entry.
In order to enter the competition, the entrant must answer the question: "What would transform the streets you use everyday into safe, attractive and enjoyable places for everyone?".
For entries made by returning the promotional postcard, the answer to this question must be within the bounds of the area on the postcard - the card cannot be attached to another piece of media.
Responses could be text or pictures, but should not be made by sticking anything to the postcard.
For entries sent by text message, the answer to the question must only be text - no pictures or video (you may be charged for sending a MMS to 80800).
For entries made via the website, the answer can include a link to a website, or an electronic file, or can be text in the text box.
By entering, the entrant certifies that they have answered the question themselves, and all copyright in the entry is their own.
They grant Living Streets a perpetual (and non-exclusive) licence to publish and publicise answers to the question (whether winning entries or not).
Awarding Prizes
A random draw will be held for every 1000 entries received between 1 January 2009 and the closing date (12 midnight on 30 June 2009).
The first entry drawn in each draw will win an 8GB iPod nano, or other mp3 player of similar value should the iPod nano be unavailable.
Entries and entrants entered into the draw will then not be eligible to take part in later draws.
Draws will be held on or around the last working day of each month.
Entries not entered into a draw (because there are not yet 1000 entries) will be held over to a draw at the end of the following month.
Living Streets will give away a maximum of 50 iPods in the course of running the competition.
If more than 50,000 entries are recieved before the closing date, all the entries over entry number 49,000 will be entered into the final prize draw.
Living Streets reserves the right to give away less that 50 prizes if less entries are received.
Living Streets may also, at its discretion, award further prizes of Step Up merchandise to entrants who it is felt have answered the competition question in a particularly interesting or unusual way.
This may be based on the method of presentation of the response, or the content of the response itself.
Decisions and notifications
The judge's decision is final and binding on the entrants.
No correspondence will be entered into.
Living Streets will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the Competition.
The winners will be notified within 28 days from the draw date.
All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winners during this time.
If the winner cannot be contacted, or has not responded within 28 days, the promoter reserves the right to re-draw a winner from the 1000 entries that were entered into the draw.
By entering, any subsequent prize winners agree to allow the free use of their names, photographs and general locations for publicity and news purposes during this and future promotions by Living Streets.
Winners' names may be published on websites owned or run by Living Streets.
The personal data received by Living Streets in the course of the promotion may be used in future to contact you about other walking campaigns or promotions unless you otherwise specified on the form.
Your personal information will not be given to any third party without your prior permission.
Incomplete or illegible entries or those not made in accordance with the rules of entry are invalid.
All questions about the competition should be addressed to the competition organisers: stepup@livingstreets.org.uk
