Step Up is encouraging secondary school pupils to campaign for better walking routes to their own school and an increase in walking journeys.
We will be working closely with 40 trailblazer schools over the next four years to give them support and guidance for their campaigns. You can read about the first schools taking part, and apply to be one of our trailblazers,
here.
Even if you are not one of the 40 Step Up trailblazers, you can still set up a campaign in your own school. These pages contain lots of useful resources and advice on what you can do to improve your area.
You might want to start by finding the best walking route to your school.
Walkit.com is an online directions service specifically for walking routes. It currently covers the following cities in detail: Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Newcastle & Gateshead, and Sheffield.
You could also see how "walkable" your area is.
WalkScore.com calculates a measure of how easy it is to get around the local area on foot. Although the site is American, it works very well for the UK too - click the link to see how walkable our London Offices are!
