The Big Step Up Debate - Win an iPod!

Since we launched Step Up in October 2008, we have been asking young people across the country what would make their streets better for walking.

As part of the Big Step Up Debate we are launching a competiton: walk for 15 minutes on your way to school, tell us what you'd change and you could win an iPod!

Throughout December and January we will be touring the country with a roadshow, visiting schools and encouraging students to enter the competition. If you are interested in the roadshow visiting your school please contact Andrew Fielding.

We have also produced a series of lesson plans that schools can use in citzenship lessons to discuss the issues and enter the competition.

Entering the competition

If your school has been visited by the roadshow, just fill in one of our postcards and drop it in the box provided. Alternatively anyone between 11 and 18 can enter online or by sending us a free text message..

The best ideas will be displayed here.

What else is involved in the Big Step Up Debate?

As part of the Big Step Up Debate, we sent some students from Darlington to an international walking conference in Barcelona. Read how they got on.

We presented some of the ideas we have already received to the House of Commons Transport Committee. Listen to the session online.
