If you have concerns about the streets around your school, here's what you can do:
Fix My Street will chase your council for you - simply enter your postcode and tell them all about the problem. They'll send it to the council for you, and will keep in touch till you get a response.
Complain about a pavement problem on the
Direct Gov website.
Get your local councillor or MP on side. He/she is elected by your local community and is there to represent its views. Perhaps you could invite them to see the problem with you? You can find your local representatives through
www.writetothem.com
Report the problem to your local council. You can find the contact details for your local council through
upmystreet.com. Then phone, write or email them about your issue. You are probably going to need to speak to the highways or road safety departments to get changes or repairs made. All councils in England and most in Scotland and Wales also have a School Travel Advisor (sometimes called a Safer Routes to School officer). Their job is to encourage sustainable travel to school.
Join your
Living Streets' local group and if there isn't one - set one up! Our local groups are a network of campaigners working in their own communities to create living streets.
