The Link Secondary School

Hello World we are the Link Secondary School 6th Form. We are new at stuff like this. Our school is a small school. We have speech and language difficulties and learning difficulties. Some of the students have autism.   At our school we are eco friendly. One of our students, Kirk, is a very big fan of penguins and keeping the environment healthy.

WEEK 1

In school we did some work with Sam who is helping us do the environment the same as Kirk.

The day was brilliant. Everybody work very hard doing this project. We taken some pictures of it surroundings outside. We hang them up in our classroom on a washing line to change what’s good of the community and what’s bad for the community.

We drew pictures of things about the street about what should be there and what shouldn’t be there.

She is really excited about meeting our MP when he comes to our Step Up event.

People waiting for us to start

Lots of important people came.  Tom Brake (our MP for Wallington and Carshalton), our School Governors, a police sergeant and 3 PCSOs, friends from Sutton High School (who have started their Step Up project this week so check us out on their blog as soon as it's up and running).

We talk about the issues on our streets.

Andrew and Billy lead the way.

Kirk talks to the Head of Street Scene,

London Borough of Sutton, and a PCSO.

It's difficult to cross the road here.

Adam chatting with a PCSO over delicious refreshments.

We asked our guests to fill in pledge cards- to help us with our campaign.  Here's a list of their pledges:

''Happy to take up any problems with the Council or Government. Get in touch if you need my help.

''I promise to pick up my litter.''

''Patrol in the area, before and after school. Get speed camera to check on vehicles' speed.''

''Make sure my staff do their job and keep the roads and pavements clean.''

'' I will listen to what you have to say, and where appropriate, take action to address your concerns.''

''I will watch my car speed very carefully, never throw any rubbish in the roads and will be behind your campaign all the way.''

'' As I work for the local Police, I will patrol the area more.''

''I will not drop litter. I will support your campaign.''

''To help with any actions and campaigns, the Link School does surrounding these issues, and promote the importance of keeping litter off our streets.''

''Drive carefully. Park safely.''

''I will try not to drop litter.''

''To make sure I get to know as many people possible as I patrol the streets.  Also to keep people safe.''

''I will work with Transport for London to improve the A232 for pedestrians and cylists and reduce speeds.''

''I promise to keep to the speed limits.''

We will be reminding them of their promises soon!

Tom Brake MP presented us with certificates.

Here's Siobhan getting hers.
